VCEHP103: Performance Assessment and Improvement of Vector Control Services is third in a eleven-course learning series. 

The improvement of the performance of Environmental Public Health Services is critical to the public health needs of communities. Environmental health departments can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their services by incorporating the 10 Essential Environmental Public Health Services into programs and activities, such as vector control.

Incorporation of the 10 Essential Environmental Public Health Services will afford an opportunity to coordinate and align with other public health departments to ensure delivery of essential services and improvement of vector control.

Public Health, First Responders, Emergency Response and Preparedness Professionals and Healthcare Practitioners

  • Recognize the fundamentals of each of the essential services

Commander Justin Gerding, MPH, REHS, CPH, DAAS

Commander Justin Gerding, MPH, REHS, CPH, DAAS is an Environmental Health Officer in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). CDR Gerding has served in assignments with the Indian Health Service, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In his current assignment with the CDC Environmental Health Services Branch, CDR Gerding engages in initiatives that support the environmental health practice at the state, tribal, local, and territorial levels. CDR Gerding serves as a subject matter expert on environmental public health performance management and the 10 Essential Environmental Public Health Services.

CDR Gerding received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Safety Management from Ferris State University and a Master of Public Health from Florida International University (FIU). He is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the National Environmental Health Association, Certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Sanitarians.
