Budget Planning and Management

Course Description:

This course provides an overview of the importance of integrating strategic and budget planning, the types and concepts of budgeting, the application of budgeting as a managerial tool, and budget planning and management. This course includes a case study examining Jefferson County (Alabama) Department of Health (JCDH) Budget Systems. Specific references to the JCDH Budget Systems will be made throughout the presentation.

Andy Rucks

Andrew C. Rucks, MBA, PhD

Dr. Rucks is Associate Professor in the Department of Health Care Organization and Policy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), School of Public Health. Dr. Rucks has extensive experience in teaching management and currently teaches Management Concepts in Public Health, the Integrated Public Health Core Curriculum, and the School of Public Health Integrative Experience.  Previously as Associate Dean of the School of Business, Samford University, Dr. Rucks gained experience in coordinating educational programs and special study projects.  Dr. Rucks also has an extensive IT background.
