Decision Making: A Systematic and Organized Approach

Course Description:

The course discusses the nature of qualitative decision making and explains how the complexity of decisions often overwhelms our cognitive capabilities. To deal with dynamic complexity, decision makers need to adopt a structured decision making process that aids in identifying alternative course of action and the major factors which are influencing the decision. The course provides and discusses a method for structuring each step in the decision making process and provides examples of the using the process.

Peter M. Ginter, PhD, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Care Organization and Policy and Director of the South Central Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Center in the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is the author or co-author of fifteen books including Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations, 6th ed. (2009) with Swayne and Duncan and Public Health Leadership and Management: Context and Cases (2002) with Capper and Swayne. Peter has published more than 150 articles, papers, and cases.
