Course Description:America’s Other Drug Problem: Critical Medication Management Considerations for the Older Patient will cover the morbidity and mortality statistics associated with what has been referred to as “America’s Other Drug Problem.” That is the problems that the older patient may experience as a result of their medications. The course will describe what changes occur as a person ages that predisposes them to problems with their medications.

Course Description:This online course introduces specific topics and outlines criteria related to the operations of a closed point of dispensing (POD). This course was originally developed for the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) for individuals who are interested in or may be working in a closed POD facility. The course is separated into two modules: Module 1 provides an overview of the Strategic National Stockpile program and describes the purpose and setup of PODs, including closed PODs.

Course Description:This course presents the basic principles of qualitative health risk assessment of environmental chemicals, including an overview of the qualitative skills necessary to evaluate the probability of injury, disease or death in the general population from exposure to environmental contamination. Course Description:This course takes a closer look at the fundamentals of environmental health through the lens of a disaster situation. Environmental health issues that arise during disasters are explored, and suggestions for environmental health responses unique to disasters are given. Several historical disaster examples are used, with a focus on Hurricane Katrina, the Indian Ocean tsunami and the World Trade Center collapse as the major case studies.

Course Description:This course is offered to better prepare the emergency medical services, public health officials and other first responder agencies, including law enforcement officers, for an incident involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Course Description:Using the examples of field exercises Lifesaver 2004 & 2005, the course will discuss the principles of counter-terrorist preparation and incident command leading to outcome oriented exercises.
