In this course, the instructors will discuss the public health workforce shortage as well as succession planning, a key element in addressing that shortage.

Peter M. Ginter, PhD

Peter M. Ginter, PhD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Care Organization and Policy as well as the Co-Principal Investigator for the South Central Center for Public Health Preparedness at the UAB School of Public Health. He is the author or co-author of 15 books and over 100 papers and case studies on management-related topics. Dr. Ginter has extensive experience in the development and teaching of management curricula particularly for public health practice audiences. He has been a consultant to, or principal investigator on numerous projects funded by state and local public health agencies including agencies from within the South Central Partnership.

W. Jack Duncan
W. Jack Duncan, PhD

W. Jack Duncan, PhD is Professor and University Scholar Emeritus in the UAB School of Business and the UAB School of Public Health. Dr. Duncan has authored over 100 refereed papers and has authored or co-authored 18 books in management-related areas. He has been consultant to or principal investigator on projects concerning strategic management, organization and workforce development in public health departments in Indiana, New Mexico, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Kentucky.
